Don't think I said whirly bird is adequate, I said it makes a difference and from what I read will also help make the A/C more efficient.
The roof cavity ie space above the ceiling and below the roof, traps hot air, that hot air is hotter than the air outside so by sucking that hot air out and letting cooler outside air in it's cooler in the roof cavity than before.
You mentioned the meter was hard to read because needle was half way, meter reader know how to read that, hence I suggested sending them a photo
