@Lady Penny - thanks for that - I will try and grow it myself, just for the exercise - I think the English name is 'Salsify' but there are different varieties.
'My salad' which i devised so as to get the same flavour, which I remembered, is always popular. I had to make an extra large portion for Sunday, daughter's house-warming party - and it was all gone in a thrice, the main dish was roast duck (well, actually 2 roast ducks) - son-in-law is a 'roast' specialist, it's 'his thing' - food was wonderful, even my other girl, who can only eat glutenfree and is almost a vegetarian, enjoyed the food.
