@picastoc - thanks for the reminder - I do love broccoli, haven't eaten it for a while . . . fasting today, had an absolutely awful episode yesterday, was sick for about an hour, I thought I was dying, I even vomitted, I NEVER vomit . . . . sorry to put this on here
Not me, at all, but the bought pie must have been off - it was expensive, delicious and marked 'Harvey Beef' - but maybe stored badly - it was on the wrong shelf, so maybe a shopper just left it there, unrefrigerated. . . . .
"I change my eating, hopefully daily" - good practice!! This is the only way to get all the nutrition we need.
Talking 'pies' - I watched an episode of 'Pye in the Sky' and 'the Chef' was given a special recipe for pastry by a Chinese cook.
the secret of the good taste of the little Chinese pastries was, that two kinds of pie pastry were used: one made with flour and lard and the other made with flour and butter.
"Henry" then used it in a Steak and Kidney Pie recipe for the pastry and of course 'Pye in the Sky' won the competition.
Do you know how to make such a pastry? I have used that technique in a Viennese Obstkuchen, where there is a cross-bar pattern laid over the fruit and I make a special pastry with extra butter for the bar-pattern, but can only think that the base and lid to a pie would be made differently as in one with butter, the other with lard.
What do you think?
