Stewing pears and plums together. Why not? Not sure how much pectin is in those fruits to turn it into jam. Jam requires more sugar than stewed fruits. I didn't read you need to add sugar in your post...... The pear skin needs to be removed, but not necessary for the plum though. Fresh pear skin is OK but when cooked you are eating the sole of your shoe......nasty as.....

its will take 3 days as stewing is so slow so as not to burn the pot
