When they were outside people walking along the corridor would chat to him and that made me very cross because he was happy out there. No smacking or even touching a child. I once flopped a couple of empty (or close to) soft folders on girl's head, having asked her to stop talking twice before. She got a shock as it came from behind. She got straight up with her friend, marched off to the Principal's office to report me. I was later given a lecture and that I was very lucky she didn't take it any further.

This is why classroom control is frequently a shambles and teachers do not want to be in their jobs. The battle between teachers and classrooms occurs day in and day out. Most parents do not know this. Only if you are a fly on the wall, could you witness it.
Students believe they are entitled to talk to their friends throughout the lesson, particularly if they have worksheets to do. They believe they can do both..... Do I sound happy not to be there? I totally never ever regretted by early departure.....

At my last year at high school, we had a female Maths teacher who would walk out on the class when things got a bit out of hand.

There were a couple of students who were very disruptive during class.

I might add that it did cause a few problems...
