..strange mix of people in Tassie....strong enviromentalists a lot with eco style businesses or working in that industry and some very old fashion farmers who dont mind putting all sorts of poisons to kill off wallabys/kangaroos, heard recently on the west where farmers wanted to put down poison to kill off some grey kangaroos (kangaroos and wallabies are not protected in Tas)..cant remember what the poison is called ,its two numbers think its been long banned in Vic...and the local fisherman got wind of it and said dont put the poison down( because you kill eagles devils quolls etc and fish) and offered to shoot the kangaroos for them and use the meat for bait....the farmers wouldnt let them on the land presumedly in case they shot a cow.
You wouldnt rush to eat Tassie farmed Salmon if you delve into the feed they get and how polluting it is of the sea water.
Tassie does very well out of eco tourism and they cant nuture that enough in my opinion...
