    My advice to those who wish to make a small fortune playing the stock market "Start with a large fortune, it's then only a matter of time before you have a small fortune"

    On a more serious note, when I had a decent stock portfolio I would maintain aprox 60% in blue chip, 30% mid tier and 5-10% in speculative stocks. And what I invested in speculative stocks was money that I was prepared to lose completly, in other words don't gamble with money you can't afford to lose
