Very strange that - and he was a kind of 'new-agey' bloke, tuned into everything, but didn't pick up on the aggression around us, even the waiters were rude and history was about to erupt into a bloody brother-war. Nothing to do with a real volcano, though - that would unite people pretty quickly . . . . Historians reckon the first big one, the one caused by Laki in 1783 - was responsible for bad harvests for years even as far as Western Europe - and one of the results of this was hunger ending in the French Revolution in May of 1789 - and it wasn't Marie Antoinette's fault after all - just a series of bad or no harvests of grain etc. for 5 years, because of the constant cloud cover from the fall-out of these everlasting eruptions (8 months) of a volcano on Iceland. They say 'Tolkien' (writer of the Lord of the Rings) got his inspiration for Middle Earth from Iceland. One of my daughters spent a bit of time on Iceland, brought home a beautiful 'Norwegian' cardigan . . . . she thought the place was magical! So sorry about your failed holiday!!! Go well Taurisk

hi Tau, I love to travel and used to fly a lot, so I’ve been caught up in all kinds of travel mishaps. Nothing like an impending war tho (that would have been scary). No plane crashes either (wouldn’t that be a boost for your street cred). Iceland is definitely on my bucket list. There are a few people from the Tesla club post that from there Some of the photos are amazing. 250kph katabatic winds sound like something from another planet.
