@big e - can't say too much on here - had to offload a little - but it is basically childhood rubbish which one of them, sometimes both, seem to want to vent around X-Mas time.
I have probably made too much of an effort and I am not saying this sanctimoniously, but critically, there is a point when one should let young people go and tell them to never look back for help etc., instead, because my husband died so suddenly, I felt it necessary to always 'be there' and provide a home etc. Big mistake. But I am making that decision now and it is painful and basically it is over: 'do we buy/bring Christmas presents, or not?' something decided some time ago as 'no', but the youngest and the one, inviting, has bought presents all through the year and was totally upset over this and the whole thing has gone stratospheric - but there are underlying reasons of course, which I am discovering - of course it's all my fault etc. - I made the indecent mistake of not popping off when my husband died. There is a lot to be said for the historic Indian custom of Suttee
P.S. I am not at all worried about what people think of my looks, too old for that, but make an effort; - no, I am not petite, nor small, but not fat or gross either - and I am happy with the way I look - that photo was taken from above, hence foreshortened - I told NBD not to photograph me, but it freaked out my daughters - may that's what this is all about - I have no idea how the female mind works, believe it or not!

In fact I have been to a pre-Christmas party, won't disclose the nationality, there were a few Australians (thank God for their sane mind) - but all people attending had boating as a common hobby and theiir womenfolk, although middle-aged still dressed like young girls, deeply outlined eyes, face make-up, tanned bodies, super-skinny one of them, another with duck lips and I felt I was looking at freaks at times; their spouses were perfectly normal - and the air-kissing that went on . . . . and the 'dahlings' too comical - but I am a tolerant sort of person - according to me - not according to - see above.
AND I reall enjoy how you write about your sister and BiL - there is a lot of genuine affection between you - it's great to see that. i have a talent for friendship, so I can't be all that bad, I am telling myself - haha
