I think early settlers and those who went to the. Outback were truly courageous. I’ve often thought about my forbears who came from different parts of the world to a pretty wild country in New Zealand and made a pretty good go of things. One family travelled regularly to and from australia in search of husbands and wives I think. Maybe they travelled well but it would still have been rugged.
I have a family story of my great grandmother being taken to the kermadecs on a plant hunting expedition for her honeymoon by her botanist husband and another trip to Rarotonga for the same. Maybe in those days they weed much more adventurous that night we realise.
