I know about Angola from a South African friend who was in the army then. He described a fair bit of his experience and what he knew about it. I think Africa is a hard experience for lots of people. I have a vague memory that there had been talk of dad taking up a job there but it didn’t happen because of some uprising. Probably a good thing. I have a friend in Sierra Leone who was a journalist during the civil war there. Black diamonds sounds a pretty realistic representation of what happened
I am not sure what triggered Angola - maybe just it was their time.
portugal is on my visiting list actually. I have a small period of free accommodation owed to me on the south coast which I hope to combine with a stay in Spain and if I’m lucky a friend is still in Barcelona. I haven’t been able to make contact this year so I’m not sure though.
