@kingpins thankyou: 'the Cranes' are my favourite of Hvorostovski's songs, but he was also a terrific opera singer - sadly I never heard or saw him live on stage! At the moment I can't listen to too much emotional music; everything sets me of - my hubby used to be amused to see how music affected me - he was musical too, though. Leshchenko is someone I had never heard of - but thankyou, he is amazing - in the best tradition of Russian singers - what an amazing man and what an amazing career and life. Of course, there is also Chalyapin but not so good to listen to on the old records - Russians are great musicians and singers - their women, also. A Russian violinist (Viktoria Mullova) played at my daughter's funeral and played a composition by S. Thankyou again Taurisk
