Kerry Packer and Rupert Murdock are in a different league to other CEO's. When you are a CEO of a Media company you have more to gain than to lose in stirring the political pot. Regardless of a companies size I think history has shown its best not to pick a fight or apportion blame with a politician or political party as it can blow up in your and the shareholders face very quickly.
Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo loved to smack talk the Labour government at the time and as entertaining as it was it did not end well for the shareholders in the long run. Did not matter to Sol, he rode off into the sunset with tens of millions for his troubles and effectively gave birth to the much derided NBN that was hastily hatched on a napkin in flight to punish Telstra for their outspokenness.
