Answering my own question for others to critique. Ordinarily Management Expense Ratio is Operating Expenses/Assets Under Management. After reading MFF 2020 Annual Report I found Operating Expenses were $9.246mil, Current Assets (cash and investment portfolio) was $1545.339mil. Therefore MER is 0.6%. I found the $4mil + $1mil was just research and admin expenses.
