    Chasing dividends is a mugs game. Preservation of capital is more important. Buyer beware.

    You need to get in well ahead of the dividend announcement and be prepared to hold long after the payment date. Trying to dip in and out to snag the dividends will only ever cost you money. I've found that a better short term strategy is to sell after the dividend is announced and buy back after the payment date.
