Circular saw the 1/4 depth and move to the half way then chisel out the right angle of wood that would be left?

Tried looking online but can only find full notches.

I am a real amateur in such matters but that is how i have done it - first marking all edges and cutting them in a couple of mm with chisel before saw cut. but note my amateurishness!!!
