Mark the notch out on the post so you can see it clearly.
Cut down the sides of the notch with a saw untill you get to the lines and no deeper. This should leave ypu with two angled cut lines to work to.
Get a sharp chisel and with the flat side of the blad up against the verticle line tap the chisel and go along the line and make that marking cut a couple of mm deep. Do the same to the pencil line that marks the end of the notch. Then using the chisel just tap lightly back towards ymour chisel lines until clear the cutting away and you should have a good v shaped cut line to work to on both chisel lines.
Working from the side of the post towards the middle start chiseling out the waste being gentle. Keep deepening the cjisel cut lines as you go. Best only take little pieces of wood out at a time.
zYou can also make it quicker and do 5 or 6 cuts twith
the saw the same as the first saw cuts and paralell to the saw cuts this will make the waste wuicket amd easier to remove. Clean up the bottom and sides o f the notch with the chisel keeping. It flat on the bottom of the notch.
