I think I described a couple of years back how I took in this cat which had been living feral for some time under my neighbour's fallen down sheds. It's amazing how she has been transformed into a total dependent pet now. It struck me this morning how I can't even just put food down for her. She insists on this ritual where I walk with her to the food dish, show her the food and give her a little pat before she eats. From a proud free-living animal she has fallen to this. It's demeaning. It's like colonial government.
