    Fertiliser market update
    14/09/2007 : Market Reports,News

    AN
Ammonium Sulphate and UAN solution have already hit all-time highs, any requirement for Spring Sulphur grades need covering now. Imported AN prices also continue to firm as product remains limited as most of the FSU manufacturers are heavily committed to their own domestic sector. UK manufacturers, having already taken back the market share they lost to Granular Urea in the last campaign, appear more relaxed and continue to move prices upwards mirroring the global situation.

With more wheat acreage expected to be drilled this autumn the UK nitrogen market is forecast to increase for the first time in many years. The UK nitrogen market is not self-sufficient and is totally reliant on imported product, so expect delivery and supply problems in spring 2008.

    UREA
The Urea price has risen dramatically over the past week and some traders are frantically trying to cover their short positions. Tight international supplies, escalating freight costs and a solid demand outlook imply that no downward price correction is in prospect.

Generally prices are still trading a considerable way from the record levels witnessed in spring of 2007, but be aware......... The huge demand from the west will keep driving this market and new record prices may well be seen for both prilled and granular urea in the run up to the Spring season in both the US and Europe.
