rough calc says if taking it down to 2.7% we have 500million to go ,at this rate it will be a long long time, a better scenario would be around 5% ,it would still take a long time.
the very best scenario would be if telstra took around 500million shares in lieu of direct payment for initial signing--if they do follow this path then i would suggest very strongly it be placed in the caring hands of an active desk to help maintain the sp.,including an active buyback when appropriate.
even if this brings a big cut in the divvy ,it would still be preferable,alternatively we might find telstra at the mercy of hedge operators.
naturally politicians are most likely very naive when it comes to assessing realtime market conditions
