IMO it makes no difference what sort of investor we are or even if the fundamentals of the company concerned are good - my comments regarding "averaging down" in a downtrend are still true IMO.
If "averaging down" is contemplated it should only occur when the uptrend is in place because as you say - we have no real idea what a SP will do so we need to make sure the odds are in our favor at least .
Sure hold regardless of the trend if you wish, but as I said catching "falling knives" is not a good idea so wait for the right time and a bullish trend before "averaging down" if you must.
IMO it is still FAR better to preserve our capital and live to invest another day regardless of what type of investor we are. We each invest to make money after all!
