@Empty Nose ... The start of the cup or left lip should be after a rise of 30% or more, not a fall from 80c. The 30% plus minimum rise is from O'neil's original work and was also used by Bulkowski.
If there is not a minimum rise of 30% to that left lip of the cup, it is not a 'cup' in terms of the theory.
One aspect I've found with different patterns, is that when you start to stray outside the strict definition of the pattern, the results are way different, usually not for the better.
A cup and handle is basically a continuation pattern, so trying to make part of a downtrend (the left lip) part of a cup is torturing the data.
Have you done any statistical work on percentages of success with C&Hs where the left lip is part of a downtrend?? This would show different results to typical C&Hs and could be interesting, but without that data, then fitting a C&H to FFX is really just guesswork, not something based on statistical evidence of past performance.
