Even though the guessing game is over, my OCD won't allow me to stop thinking about it (mission accomplished Alpaka).

The past 24 hours I've not been able to think of a reason to not consider Aluminium in heavy construction.

If the strength / hardness / toughness could be sufficiently improved via 2% graphene, why not replace steel I-beams with al/gr beams? Nice simple extruded process. Now, I'm no engineer but I imagine half the problem with steel beams is that they have to support their own weight, and the higher you go, the more pressure.

I'm thinking such a material could make sense in everything from freestanding mezzanine floors to bridges.. and everything inbetween... and maybe a whole heap outside too.

Again, no engineer..
