As a raw material, titanium actually weighs more than aluminum, though both metals weigh considerably less than steel. “Aluminum has one-third the density of steel,” says Mike Zablocky. “Titanium is half the weight of steel, so because it has a lower mass, it can be just as strong (as steel) at half the weight
I put the photo in just because I thought it looks cool.
I've been following bone/joint replacememts because we have a rather large successful local company that just got taken over. There are also a few 3d printing companies I'm keeping an eye on, in Asx that may well be headed towards the same space.
