    I think you live in a right winged fanasty land were all employers are saints

    I worked for a major miner for eight years 1995 to 2003 on a site that employed over fifty trades people , they contracted their first apprentice in 2003. Seven years not one apprentice. They only employed apprentices after being pressured by the work force.

    Today 2010. One of our major mining companies that employs train drivers will only employ drivers with a minimum two years experience.
    They have raped the talent out of the rest of the state and are now flying people in from New Zealand.
    They train a token number of indigenous drivers to look good.
    This has driven up the frieght costs in the rest of the state and has impacted badly on these other rail services.

    Pull your head out of the sand , the impacts of the mining boom hasn't been all postive.

    The big miners have no sense of community at all , the bottom line is all they care about.
