Fib numbers (ratios) occur naturally in the world. Branches to twiggs to leaves, petals to leaves on a flower, heights to widths of biological things. Go outside and count some stuff and you'll find it everywhere. Discovered by a mathamatician Mr Fib a long time ago.
Along came a very smart (or very desperate) trader and decided to draw fib ratios on stock charts. He discovered that the ratios of Fibs also apply to stock charts (the left hand side). After all charts are a function of the natural system (greed and Fear).
Now days it's even better (or worse) as most traders know about the fib ratios and trade according to them. So, now the fib ratio isn't just a natural predictor it is also a psychological predictor. Hence you have a reasonable chance of predicting the ride hand side of the chart.
Ravishankaray, I suspect you wagged school the day your year 8 maths teacher taught that one.
