As for the Intelligent people issue you may remember Long Term Capital who were caught in Russian currency crisis and created a major hiccup in the global financial system. Lots of people lost millions/billions -Lot of Intelligent people in LTC among them 2 or 3 Nobel prize winning mathematicians.
Why is it that it can't be accepted that people may be trying to do their best ,events overtake them through no fault of their own but despite that they get a result-not the result you wanted but a result in the most extreme of circumstances.
