The sp of all ucg players have always been volatile, and it seems that the sp of lnc and cnx are running along rising long term support levels but will require significant good news in order to gain ascendancy into blue sky valuations once again. Cxy's valuation has increased by 50% over the past few weeks and is prob in for st correction ( buy on rumour sell on fact bla bla). What are the adcvantages of ucg over the long term and what are the threats? Advantages are many... Amazing energy recovery ratio, low emissions, cheap capex and OPEC compared to traditional coal mining etc etc. But the major threats from my view are the unknown possible advances in alternate techs such as geothermal wind etc, and as the not so great Donald Rumsfeld once said.... There are unknown unknowns... And who knows what they are!

The obvious entry point for ucg to create positive cash flows is electricity, but this has limited value adding potential compared to higher valued feedstock for Liquid fuels, (peak oil concerns etc) fertilizers ( with increasing population, a great necessity) and other chemical requirements.

If at the very least, electricity production proves to be adead end... Which I doubt given enviro advantages, the low capex and opex to serve the feedstock industry still creates in my mind a sound business model. Given that by 2050 the world population is destined to hit 9 billion.... Resources such as gas or hydrogen or the many permutations of chemical combinations that ucg can provide, the industry can only grow.

In other words, st trading is IMO, merely fluff.
