It is worth contemplating the fact that details of ‘fifth molecule’ breakthrough were published online in the journal American Diabetes Association, ahead of print on March 7, 2016 (the article was titled “Identification of Tetraspanin-7 as a Target of Autoantibodies in Type 1 Diabetes”). This means the information about the fifth molecule was published just as PIQ announced another set of tests (to satisfy a potential partner). Accordingly, could it be that PIQ and/or their potential partner would have been aware of the discovery of the fifth molecule and the new tests may be scrambling to find a way to assay for it? This could account for the time being taken. And, if it were the case, the hope remains that PIQ could be on to something substantial. But I am far from being an expert on the matter and may be on the wrong track. DYOR.
