fiji - any thoughts

Our youngest son is getting maried in Fiji in September.

The wedding is at the Outrigger resort on the main island.

We are thinking of a longer stay, renting a house for a few weeks or more, rather than the limitations of a resort. One resort is much like another after a while. Have found a nice beachy/rainforest/walks place called Pacific Harbour, which I think is about an hour and a half from the Outrigger, but we will have a hire car so distance will not be a problem. Also thinking of a traditional village stay for 2 days before the rellies start to arrive. Hubby more keen on this aspect than me, but am going with it for the moment.

Has anyone visited the Pacific Harbour area or perhaps can recommend another? Not really interested in shopping all day and would prefer nature/environment/cultural pursuits.
