I have been in Auckland for the last couple of days meeting with prospective partners as our overseas expansion plans start to crystalise.
There is plenty of opportunity for nearmap and I was pleased by the positive reaction and enthusiasm for our service from prospective customers, resellers and operators.

The difficulty in New Zealand is the weather as they say in Auckland you get 3/4 seasons before lunchtime. A challenge no doubt as we rely on good clear conditions to capture our content. It is interesting that several people commented that some well known survey companies had struggled to operate effectively within the weather constraints and dialled down their operations or pulled out altogether. I think this is an opportunity for us. It is also some really useful R & D and scaling experience as the weather in say Northern Europe is very similar to New Zealand and we can learn a lot operating closer to home than the other side of the globe.

We have lots to do as expanding is easy to talk about conceptually but difficult to do and is hard work. Simon Cope and I are committed to making this happen quickly - the flying season starts in September coincidentally so does the Rugby World Cup so watch this space!
