THE lads at Nexus Energy will be keeping a close watch in the share register over coming days, following increased trading turnover.

More than one-third of the gas explorer's shares have changed hands in the past six weeks, with Macquarie Group and boutique adviser Rothschild's believed to be buying on behalf of clients.

Nexus' share price has been pummelled this year, falling from a May high of $1.95 to a low of 37.5c, leading managing director Ian Tchacos to cop a margin call. Shares have since bounced back to 63c, after rising 8 per cent yesterday on above average volumes. Insiders can't help but wonder whether an opportunistic bid is on the horizon."
