Something has got to give here. Governments of both persuasion cannot simply sit back and allow all gas to be shipped OS. Mind you, only pollie in Oz who seems to consider this an issue currently is Colin Barnett.
Panic already on Gove Alumina being shut down and NT and Fed govt planning to build pipeline to allow NT to sell some of its gas supply to Gove. Meantime, all Ichthys gas and Bayu Undan gas to be shipped out of Darwin as LNG to Japan.
Australia really has squandered its resources wealth through poor policy settings, mainly at the Federal level.
