I would love to know what the possible agreements were.

We let you in and give you as much information as we are legally allowed to and in exchange you don't do anything to prevent us proving up the resource.

Maybe it is "game on" after a certain date, maybe it is an event, maybe the DFS?

Others who did not agree would not be bound by the agreement but wouldn't you want access to that information so you can be more aware of the company's value?

I think, from a risk mitigation perspective, the majors would take the offer and agree to hang back.

However, there would have to be some sort of caveat which said if someone else made a move then all would be free to have a go.
