Thats something thats been discussed few month ago at Gold Coast RRS. I was there.
Quite frankly, i was positively surprised that they admited a mistake and quickly adjusted as it wasnt viable long term!
Was right decision, very proactive.

You cut your stones and sell them, effectively doing competition to your buyers that you intend to sell long term, that would of been a shot in the foot!!
Miner is a miner, not a gem salesman or trader.
And they intend to mine and build relations with their customers!
