I do get your point trendee, and it is a great point but I can't get past the contributory negligence of the banking system.
It got ugly when the industry was making commissions on mortgages and making bigger commissions in selling off the debt from their books. I feel it lead to families borrowing more than they could afford (greed as you put it well) and the con game of the banks lending huge amounts as they were clearing it off their balance sheets each month..
There a couple of good doco's on Fox right now about the USA financial system. Even if they are 10% accurate it makes my gut wrench...
