The Victorian Govt, would be happy to see Lakes Oil disappear over the horizon to other states, and the likes of Origin would welcome that loss of competition too.

Lakes Oil should have been suing the Victorian Govt, and showing up the farcical enquiries and those without any geological knowledge having input into Lakes' survival or not.

Those people should be made accountable in the form of paying big $'s, by way of legal challenges.

Annells was too nice for too long anticipating Govt rational and common sense outcomes, but that is not going to happen, ... so sue the **&&^*^& out of 'em.

VICTORIA’s oldest oil and gas company says it will move interstate if the State Government does not permit onshore gas activity.
Lakes Oil chairman Rob Annells said his company owned leases in Queensland and would look to other states if the Victorian Government continued a moratorium on onshore exploration and mining. “(Otherwise) what’s the point of staying here?” he said.
Mr Annells’s comments come as a parliamentary inquiry into onshore unconventional gas prepares to make public its final report to Government next week.
The report is expected to influence the Government’s policy on onshore unconventional gas, an industry that has been on hold since a moratorium on fracking was introduced in 2012.
The moratorium was extended to include all onshore gas activity last year.

Unconventional gas includes coal-seam, tight and shale gas, which can be more difficult to extract than conventional gas.
Lake Oil wants to conventionally drill for gas onshore, a practice Mr Annells believed had been mistakenly caught up in the ban. Mr Annells also questioned why the inquiry wasn’t conducted by scientists.
“Get a scientific committee instead of a parliamentary committee, use experts from CSIRO or university academics,” he said. “I think it is unfair on politicians. I’m not having a go at them, I think they have done a good job under the circumstances. It is unfair to expect them to understand the science.”
Energy Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said the inquiry’s aim was to “hold an open and transparent inquiry based on robust scientific evidence and proper community engagement”.
She said the moratorium would stay until the Government considered the review.
The parliamentary committee last week attempted to have Ms D’Ambrosio provide evidence to the inquiry, an approach rejected by the Government.
The inquiry received more than 1800 submissions.
Anti-gas group Lock the Gate has called for a permanent ban on all forms of unconventional gas mining.
“It is clear that Victorians do not support this invasive industry,” it said."
