in 1945 or 1946 if you had have got a few mates - jumped in a Landie with a heap of grog an snags and done the tourist bit around Egypt and into the ME with the rising sun as a pennant and the aussie flag flying as well -
you would be seen as a friend ------- everywhere
do the same thing now ---------- and, you would be a target - merely time before you were shot or killed somehow
times have changed - but, more than that - Australians have changed
