W.A. penalties for using a mobile phone, while driving,

are finally being increased.

$1,000 and 4 points, but only $500 and 3 points

at traffic lights.

Nowhere near high enough, but a step in the right direction.

O.K. for a first offence, but they need to get serious

for any subsequent offences.

$5,000 fines, 8/9 points and impounding phones/cars.

and at a COMPLETE standstill as it was a few days ago?
