    "Talk is cheap....

Like most bullies they are full of it. If you think the US would risk full scale war for the sake of Japan (a country they were at war with only a small amount of years ago..) you are dreaming!!"

talk is cheap eh? When was the last time you saw USA back down?

You might be right thinking they wouldn't go all out for Japan aside from a few facts.

However - three other factors come into play -

    1. Pacific influence.

    2. What better way to get rid of over $1000 billion dollars worth of debts you owe China than by bringing them to heel - which, militarily, you could do in a doddle.

    3. They don't have a choice without breaking treaties.

in short - where actually is the risk for America?

Money? NO, not this time - this is not Vietnam, this is China - who the states owe a lot of dough to already.

Influence? This is a chance to get it back.

Looking bad? No --------- not if they go in to back Japan - which they are committed to do -------- understand that
    COMMITTED - 1960 agreement.

Who the hell is going to stop them?
    No one.

Who will be effected greatly no matter which way this goes?

Australia - us, right here on the property forum.

Next month Kerry probably goes to China ------ and certainly goes to Japan

    Watch out.

Thank god for one thing with Kerry - people get on with him at a diplomatic level like a house on fire - even if he totes a gun.

    have a great day all

    Pinto
