KNAPK is far from impressed with the naalakkersuisut's proposal for next year's Finance Act. This is stated in a press release from chairman Henrik Sandgreen.

Among other things, KNAPK points to the appropriations for business support, which from 2013 to 2020 have been between DKK 14 and 20 million, but which in 2022 are proposed to be reduced to DKK 10 million.

    - 10 million kroner for dinghies, vessels and agriculture. That is simply not enough. This is the clear message from KNAPK, after the Naalakkersuisut has presented their proposal for next year's Finance Act.

The business support covers, among other things, subsidies for the purchase of dinghies and vessels.

    Promises must be kept

KNAPK's director Siverth Amondsen elaborates on the criticism of Sermitsiaq.AG. He stresses that it is about what is promised during the election campaign.

    - IA promised improvements in inland fishing, development of fishing in South Greenland and abolition of the tax on halibut. None of that is included in the Finance Bill, he says.

Naalakkersuis and Asii Chemnitz Naarup state during the presentation of the Finance Bill that nothing comprehensive will come through in the fisheries area until the Fisheries Commission has submitted the recommendations they have worked on in recent years, which will be used in the work on a new fisheries law.

But that reasoning does not give the director much for. For him and the chairman, it is about promises that are not kept.

    - If, as promised, you want to develop the fishery in South Greenland now, where you plan for zero tolerance of mining projects with uranium, which can put a definite stop to the mining project at Kuannersuit, then it requires some money, points out the chairman of KNAPK Henrik Sandgreen.

    South Greenland must start fishing

KNAPK believes that a minimum of DKK 20 million should be set aside for the development of coastal fishing for the next four years in Greenland.

    - We have been looking for appropriations for fishing in southern Greenland in the Naalakkersuisut's budget proposal. It apparently does not exist. It is therefore obvious to ask the Naalakkersuisut how they intend to develop the fishery in southern Greenland.

In IA´'s election program, it appears as a point that the party wants to remove the tax on halibut, which was introduced back in 2015. Both IA and Naleraq then voted against the proposal for a tax, and now that the two parties have gained a majority in Inatsisartut KNAPK had hoped for a speedy settlement of the tax.

However, the annual income of around DKK 15 million is thus maintained in the proposal for next year's Finance Act.
