Apologies, I was being rather selfish with my comment for the share price is the only metric which will mean my investment is worth more money or not. It's the one I care about, it's my measure of success, if the company doubles in market capitalisation and at the same time they double the amount of shares on issue, well the share price won't move. Good for the company, not good for the shareholder.
But saying that, yes- the share price is not the company measure of success. It would be more aligned to the market capitalisation, closing deals, cash flow and ... ready for it- profitability.
