Just a note of caution on using credit cards to pay other debts. I am quite sure that ANY cash withdrawal from a credit card account immediately draws/accrues interest regardless of any 'interest free period'. Any funds transfer is generally treated like a cash withdrawal by the banks.
A former girlfriend found this out the hard way.
