you said your mate was 50, and you dont know if he can work another 13.5 years ... what are his options then ? go on disability support pension, go on the dole... he will not be able to go on the age pension until about 67...they are moving the goalposts, so it might be 70 by the time he gets around to needing it
the disability pension pays around currently 712 pf, plus rent assistance of 120...it pays the same as the age pension so ask him how will he survive then ?
ps try living on that amount of income, even if the home is paid off... suggest your mate toughens up, 50 is not old, you work because you need to, you need the money to survive...
or send the missus to work.... or start doing the sums, as to how you would survive...
