Went to a financial planner for a chat about what services they can offer my wife and I in our five years of pre-retirement, and ultimately, in post retirement. They specialise in superannuation advice and have some expertise in investing in bonds and fixed income products. They have no affiliation with any company and are highly rated by the F.P.A. Their fees are $6000 for their initial plan and setting up a SMSF. To cover all accounting costs of running the SMSF, for regular reviews of the investments, and for access to their services across 12 months, they charge $16000. My simple question is - Are these fees excessive?
