BPT is not one of the companies that have to pay it, at this stage. They will have the same additional costs on inputs as any other business, but as I assume the bulk of their energy input is via diesel, which remains un-carbon-taxed, so that will be minor.
In the long run, I expect the tax to push power companies slightly toward gas and away from coal, which is very positive to Beach.
Beach also has some small involvement in a couple of renewable energy schemes. One is geothermal, so could benefit from both the carbon tax and get funding from it under the green energy initiatives.
They also have some involvement with a mob looking at carbon sequestration by pumping CO2 into depleted gas wells, but the details have faded from my mind.
