That is interesting. I wrote on these threads a few years ago that China's gold reserves were likely way more than they were disclosing because there were different holdings but they only mentioned one (from memory) officially. At that time I thought they had more than US which had an official figure around 8000t but likely zero. They could not even repatriate the German gold they were looking after back to Germany when asked.
