A major issue facing the directors in the half yearly accounts, aside from revenue loss due to broadcast government cuts, is the carrying value of goodwill. Will they think that it is overstated as they made most of the recent acquisitions prior to the announcements. It is a hard decision because there is no certainty that the government cuts will occur or occur in their current form. One fortunate result is that any goodwill write-off does not affect cash flow!
