You can be proud of this country and everything we are today without glorifying
colonisation. We can celebrate James Cook’s legacy while acknowledging the atrocities committed during the colonisation. Currently the celebration of the legacy is the only thing happening. So it is understandable that the indigenous people and their supporters will rightly feel anger. They received the right to vote in 1962. Hardly 60 years ago.
