''sounds just like the banking regulation where only banks can judge banks.''
yep - it sounds EXACTY like that
same same as the 'church' is investigating sexual abuse
uh huh
yes, as you say 'it's something' - I'm not a 'something kind of guy' though-
I like big licks, none of this tippy toe crap.
What I think we might see is a lessening in very bad behaviour and the natural tendency of Aussies to be just plain aggressive - which is seen in politics - and I think that's because of the very clear 'us and them' business
now we won't get as well mannered as Europe, I think that's way too much to expect - but, when the Liberals are irrelevant - and Labor is also diminished - the journey that they are both on with dropping primary votes
when that happens and we have more groups of independents, and small parties - I think it will change just naturally ----------- why?
because other than the thickest of them - they will understand that if they make 'real' enemies across the chamber -------- they might have to be dealing with that person next week or next year
and even me - who is very quick to the personal insult - knows that when you are in a situation where you might need 'joe or june blogs' next year -
it's probably best to not call them a fat uneducated moronic dill, this year
you'll get their attention, but the barb will lodge deep and they won't forget that one.
It's why I would not ever have or will make it in politics or corporation or committees etc - because I find it so so so hard to not point out utter stupidity when I'm in a stupid society
It's one of the biggest things that I see here (Fr) - in all of the breadth of political beliefs - from extreme right wing to as left as one can almost get in a developed world -
there is a respect and a set of good manners and it's mainly driven by people themselves, but it's also driven by media ---------- you just don't see the obnoxious interrupting, the finger pointing, the overbearing stuff
you see that they have the emotion inside often - but, you see that they contain themselves because they have a different culture -
what it does is that it allows pretty much all to have a say AND be heard - not drowned out. see *** for interest
It's not perfect - far from it. There's corruption and bullying and things which you think 'how is that possible' (you see it less than in Oz) ------------ but, it's by and large - wonderful to see discussion comparison to the buffoonism one sees in Oz.
All these are different - Oz, NZ, England, Britain (yes, I put them in separately), America and Europe - and Europe in it's individual nations.
Oz is the roughest and worst mannered. Europe is the best. England is a real oddity - it's got all it really needs to be ok, but it's got this culture and it's infected with some kind of stubbornness to stay so stuck in the past that is just ridiculous. America - phew, absolute lost cause. Dreadful mechanisms which they totally accept and are so bad philosophically - like for instance their full acceptance of having their Supreme Court with members who are 'conservative' or 'democrat' -----------
how they can do that with a straight face and at the same time say that the court is impartial and is a separate branch of government - to me is just gob smacking
****
(interestingly enough - without knowing a thing about what is said - I can pick the right wingers on TV, just by looking at them speaking).
